About Us – Company history

MJ Systems was founded in 1999 by Paul Derry, a Design Engineer, who had spent the previous 25 years supplying the automotive industry through his own business in automotive and industrial coatings. MJ Systems aim was, and is, to be the market leader in the design of waste-free packaging solutions for the automotive industries.

In 1999 his chosen supplier was Tarameen, a specialist textile importer based in Manchester and run by Tariq Marfani, a Cranfield Business graduate. Tariq had been an innovative Textile Importer from India and China plus had run his own company since 1986. With Samir Mehta, a Manchester University Textile Technology graduate, they and their team brought a wealth of experience in sourcing both fabrics and materials from their Indian based factories that manufacture to world class standards.

In 2006, in response to the level of service demanded by the Automotive Industry, MJ Systems extended its vertical integration and merged MJ Systems with one of these factories GV Textiles Manufacturing. This gives the company a competitive edge in design, development, speed of response, and the obvious consequential savings and efficiencies.

Then in 2009 in collaboration with Renson Products (a steel stillage manufacturer in Yorkshire) and CPL (a plastic converter and vac forming manufacturer in Manchester) MJ Systems formed the marketing company Solpac as a “one stop shop” for all packaging solutions. This proved highly successful and their turnover grew rapidly. Over the years MJ Systems bought out the other partners meaning by 2015 they had 100% ownership.

In a desire to further improve service to customers and efficiency of operation on the 1st April 2017 MJ Systems merged with Solpac to form mjsolpac.

We pride ourselves on innovative design solutions for our customers. This has meant we are the go-to destination when OEM’s and Tier 1’s in the automotive and aerospace industries are looking for returnable packaging.
